Xeriscaping...

The Front Range Xeriscape Task Force of Denver Department of Water first introduced the term xeriscaping in 1978. Sometimes called “drought tolerant” landscaping, it refers to gardening in ways that curtail water use and implements the use of plants appropriate to the local climate.

Advantages include lower water bills, less time and maintenance, and little or no lawn mowing.
